Altar and Rosary Society
President: Bette Pienta


The Altar & Rosary Society exists “to praise and honor the Blessed Virgin Mary and to secure her patronage by the recitation of the Rosary for the mutual spiritual benefit of all the members (Pope Leo XIII).”


Board of Specified Jurisdiction (BSJ)
President: Walter Podrazik


The BSJ assists in matters of school governance, according to the policies, procedures, guidelines, regulations and best practices of the Archdiocese of Chicago and the Office of Catholic Schools.


Finance Council

The Finance Council supports the Pastor in his stewardship of parish resources while being accountable to the parish and the diocesan Bishop.  An active, well-formed Parish Finance Council is a key element for promoting the financial health of the parish, assuring accountability and assisting the Pastor with his responsibilities.


Holy Name Society
President: Phil Whitehouse


The St. Barbara Holy Name Society has been an active, non-profit group of male St. Barbara parishioners in Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood for over 100 years. Through our shared Catholic faith and belief in the mission of our school and church, they strive to develop opportunities to aid and engage fellow community members, while also raising funds to provide St. Barbara some much needed financial assistance.


Ladies’ Guild
President: Michele Worth


The Ladies’ Guild fosters friendship and spiritual welfare among the women of the parish while providing volunteer service that spans across the school, church and other organizations to unite our parish toward development.


Liturgy Committee
President: Fr. Arthur Marat


The Liturgy Committee focuses on the full range of parish liturgical life.  This includes budgeting, long-range and short-range planning, establishing parish liturgy policy, developing job descriptions for liturgical ministers, evaluating liturgies and continuing the formation and education in liturgy for committee members and the assembly.


Maintenance Committee

The Maintenance Committee oversees the proper care and repair of parish buildings, equipment, and grounds.  With the approval of the Pastor and the Finance Committee, they plan and coordinate repairs and improvements.


Pastoral Council
President: George Vanderford, Jr. 


The Pastoral Council is intended to assist the pastor at looking at a particular aspect of the church, reflecting on it, and presenting their thoughts and conclusions.


Knights of Columbus

The Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest Catholic fraternal service organization.  For their support for the Church and local communities, as well as for their philanthropic efforts, Pope John Paul II referred to the Order as a “strong right arm of the Church.”


St. Barbara Seniors
President: Sharon Guest


The senior’s club aims to build relationships among the parish’s senior generation through parish involvement and the pursuit of common interests and activities.


St. Vincent DePaul Society

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul provides services to needy families and individuals within our community, helping cover the very basics for human dignity such as food, shelter, and clothing.

 


Youth Group

The Youth Group’s desire is to empower young people to live as Disciples of Christ through their active participation in their faith community and volunteer work.
